AutoCATS is a 2-D Computer-Aided Tolerancing System designed for AutoCAD. This system consists of two pieces of software: the AutoCATS 2-D Modeler and 2-D Analyzer. The AutoCATS Modeler is an interactive graphics application program which serves as a CAD preprocessor to the AutoCATS 2-D Analyzer. Using new menus and functions appended to AutoCAD, the designer graphically creates a 2-D engineering model of a mechanical assembly which is overlaid on its corresponding AutoCAD geometry. 2-D tolerance stack relationships and critical assembly dimensions are defined, and the required dimensional data is extracted directly from the CAD database. The AutoCATS 2-D Analyzer may then be accessed to perform interactive tolerance analysis and allocation.
