Summary
The CATS 3D Assembly Tolerance Modeler is an interactive graphics application program which serves as a CAD-based preprocessor to the computer-aided tolerance analysis package CATS.BYU. The tolerance modeler, known as Pre-CATS, allows graphical creation of a three-dimensional engineering model of a mechanical assembly. Tolerance stack relationships are defined for the model from within the CAD system and necessary dimensional data is extracted directly from the CAD database. The tolerance analysis program, CATS.BYU, uses the completed model to perform interactive tolerance analysis.
Pre-CATS 3D has been implemented for the CATIA CAD system from Dassault. This manual describes the operating principles of the CATIA Pre-CATS implementation including theory, commands, procedures, and tutorial examples.
