Novel Applications of Variational Analysis at Kodak

Eastman Kodak Company has been involved in developing software to increase robustness of mechanical assemblies for over 30 years.  During this timeframe, this internally developed technology has been used by specialists to model numerous mechanical designs, such as, cameras, copiers, printers, and many others. The system has enabled Kodak’s analysts to solve many sophisticated design problems in a cost efficient and timely fashion. 

This talk will describe several novel examples in which Kodak’s variation analysis software was applied to generate a significant increase in product robustness. The key capabilities will be described that make this technology both versatile and cost effective. 

Bio
Tom Albrecht is a Technical Associate in the Advanced Modeling and Analysis Center at the Eastman Kodak Company. Tom has worked at Kodak since receiving his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1976. Tom has experience in manufacturing, software development, and engineering analysis. He has been a key contributor in the tolerance analysis field over the past 16 years, and was one of the original developers of Kodak’s tolerance analysis program. Tom currently is a member of a variation analysis team that provides training, analysis support, consulting, and tool development in the variation analysis field at Kodak.
